San Diego bankruptcy lawyer D.J. Rausa was elected by the members of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum to a second term on the Board of Directors.
Mr. Rausa, the owner of The Law Offices of Rausa & Mason (http://www.rausamason.com), will sit on the education committee, allowing him to help create educational programs for San Diego bankruptcy professionals. The San Diego Bankruptcy Forum is a non-profit organization of professionals working in the areas of bankruptcy and insolvency, including attorneys, accountants, trustees, bankers, real estate professionals, auctioneers, appraisers, consultants and others involved in the bankruptcy and insolvency process.
“My involvement with the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum keeps me in touch with the San Diego bankruptcy community, including the judges, practitioners and court staff who help shape the bankruptcy process for consumers and businesses,” Mr. Rausa said. “And being a part of the education committee means that I can keep up to date with the latest changes in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings that may affect my clients.”
Mr. Rausa has been practicing consumer bankruptcy in San Diego for more than 16 years, and he said the ever-changing case law can be hard for individuals to understand.
“It’s critical that a San Diego bankruptcy firm stay on top of all the subtle developments of bankruptcy law,” he said. “Playing a leadership role on the forum ensures that Rausa and Mason attorneys will have the most recent updates.
Mr. Rausa’s term will last three years. During his first term on the board, he helped organize a question/answer session between bankruptcy judges and attorneys. Mr. Rausa has also served as a speaker to consumer groups such as real estate professionals and as a bankruptcy expert on a San Diego business radio program.
“I am looking forward to serving the San Diego bankruptcy community for a second time,” he said. “Being on the board is a chance to give back to my profession.”
